Michigan iGaming and Sports Betting Close 2025 Near $400M in Revenue

Michigan’s online gaming market posted strong results to close out 2025. According to the Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB), commercial and tribal operators reported $399.8 million in combined iGaming and internet sports betting gross receipts in December, a 19.1% increase from November.

Michigan sports betting generated $84.0 million in gross receipts for the month, while online casino gaming accounted for the majority of revenue with $315.8 million. 

Despite higher overall revenue, online wagering activity declined, with a lower handle reported compared to the previous month.

December Sports Betting Results

Online sports betting produced $84.0 million in gross receipts in December, down from $87.3 million in November.

Adjusted gross receipts totaled $61.13 million, representing a 5.6% month-over-month decline. Michigan sports betting apps handled $512.9 million in wagers during the month, a decrease of 18.7% from November’s $631.1 million handle.

Sports betting operators submitted $4.2 million in state taxes and fees for December. Detroit casinos contributed an additional $1.4 million in city wagering taxes tied to sports betting activity.

iGaming Sets New Monthly Record

Michigan online casinos set a new monthly revenue record in December. iGaming gross receipts reached $315.8 million, surpassing the previous high of $278.5 million recorded in October 2025.

Adjusted gross receipts from iGaming totaled $296.74 million, reflecting a 27.2% increase from November and a 35.1% increase compared to December 2024. 

iGaming operators paid $62.1 million in state taxes and fees during the month. Detroit casinos reported $13.8 million in municipal taxes generated from iGaming revenue.

Michigan Online Gaming Totals for 2025

For the full year, Michigan operators reported $3.8 billion in combined online gaming gross receipts, a 29.5% increase compared to 2024. The annual total included:

  • $3.1 billion from iGaming
  • $671.3 million from internet sports betting

Adjusted gross receipts for 2025 reached $3.3 billion, marking a 39.5% year-over-year increase, including:

  • $2.9 billion from iGaming
  • $435.9 million from sports betting

The December results capped a year of significant growth for Michigan’s online gaming and sports betting market, setting records in both iGaming revenue and overall adjusted gross receipts for 2025.
