The rush is on, to the malls and online. Fulfilling some of those gifts on your lengthy Christmas list will come easy; however, some will be difficult to decide.

BetMichigan.com took a break from covering Michigan sports betting to see for whom buying those gifts will be most difficult. Using the “Topics”  feature, we found the top related topics and queries to “Christmas gift” on Google Trends for the last 90 days (9/11/2023 - 12/11/2023) and ranked the top 5, according to volume. Here is who is tough to shop for in the Wolverine State:

In Michigan, It’s the Boyfriend.

Topping the list is boyfriend. You know he is emptying his wallet and bank account to make his significant other happy in any way possible. That is a given. Or should be. But what does he want? He probably hasn't given you a list and you must figure it out on your own. Clothes is always a standard go-to, maybe a gift card to his favorite coffee shop or bar that he frequents on the weekend to watch sports. Either way he will be happy with whatever you gift him.

Parent is second on the list. What do you get the one who has done so much for you? They don't care . . . as long as you don’t come empty-handed when you visit.

Girlfriend ranks third. As stated above, you know he is going to go out of his way for you, just make sure you give him a direction to go, so you know you will be happy.

Grandparents are fourth on the list. They just want to be remembered and are happy to be included for whatever you might decide and purchase.

Finally, teenager rounds out the top five. Let’s be honest, who knows what they want? Gift cards are always a good option and anything having to do with their cell phones seems to be a good thing.

Either way, happy shopping! Just be relieved it’s all over before the National College Football Playoff on New Year's Day. Michigan sports betting apps will be buzzing all day when No. 1 seed Michigan plays No. 4 Alabama in a CFP semifinal. The other semi matches Texas with Washington.
