  • πŸ“Š The Detroit Lions have +1300 odds to win Super Bowl 59, according to DraftKings.
  • πŸ† Using implied probability, Detroit has a 7.7% chance to win the Super Bowl.
  • πŸ”₯ The Lions' Super Bowl odds are the fifth-shortest among all 32 NFL teams.

The Detroit Lions made history in 2023, reaching the NFC Championship Game for the first time since 1992. Despite coming up short, the team reloaded in free agency, adding star defenders like Carlton Davis III and D.J. Reader, then added more firepower in the NFL Draft by drafting cornerbacks Terrion Arnold & Ennis Rakestraw, Jr.

Once the league's most consistent underdogs, the latest Lions Super Bowl odds confirm the franchise is among the five favorites to win the Lombardi Trophy in 2025. Below, I keep track of those odds throughout the offseason and each week during the regular season.

πŸ† Odds to Win Super Bowl 59+1200
πŸ‘‘ Odds to Win NFC Conference+500

Detroit has the fourth-shortest Super Bowl 59 odds following free agency and the 2024 NFL Draft. Of course, these preseason expectations are new to the franchise and its fans. The Lions have never made a Super Bowl appearance, let alone won it. However, the rebranded organization claims to be different than the Same Old Lions, and they proved it last season.

The team already defied the odds last year, winning the NFC North and hosting a playoff game for the first time since 1993. Now, they'll have to shed their underdog skin and embrace the target on their to do again what they hadn't done in 30 years prior. And as of late spring, oddsmakers are projecting they will.

Lions Super Bowl Odds vs. NFC North

Entering the season as defending NFC North champions, the Lions have the best odds to win it again in 2024-25.

Look at the shape of the division heading into the summer before the regular season:

🏈TeamπŸ†Odds to Win NFC North
Detroit+130
Green Bay+210
Chicago+375
Minnesota+750

Despite a convincing divisional crown last season, the Lions have a slim lead in the odds over the rival Packers.

Key Contributors Toward Lions Super Bowl Odds

Despite many believing Dan Campbell earned AP Coach of the Year honors, Kevin Stefanski (Browns) beat him out for the award. With high expectations and it being more of an underdog award, Campbell is eighth in the odds for 2024 COY at +1500 in 2024. Still, M.C.D.C. (Motor City Dan Campbell) is one of the many faces of the franchises and arguably the most impactful individual in the franchise's miraculous turnaround.

Meanwhile, franchise quarterback Jared Goff is playing the best football of his career and is hoping for an extension to his contract because of it. The California native has +4000 odds to win the NFL MVP Award. After signing a monstrous extension this offseason, All-Pro wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown is tied with his teammate, running back Jahmyr Gibbs, to win Offensive Player of the Year at +2500 odds. Meanwhile, tight end Sam LaPorta had four more touchdowns than any other tight end in the league last year. Backed by the league's deepest offensive line, led by Penei Sewell, this might be the most complete offense in the NFL.

Defensively, hometown kid Aidan Hutchinson is settled into superstar status, leading the league in quarterback hits while finishing second in hurries and pressures generated. Hutch got some help this offseason, as the team added star veteran defensive tackle D.J. Reader to team up with Alim McNeill in the interior. While the team's secondary struggled all season, Detroit addressed it in a big way this offseason, adding former Tampa Bay cornerback Carlton Davis III via trade, and former Oakland cornerback Amik Robertson via free agency.

General manager Brad Holmes wasn't done there, though, adding two potential future All-Pro corners in Terrion Arnold (Alabama) and Ennis Rakestraw, Jr. (Missouri) with his first two picks in the draft. And despite losing Chauncey Gardner-Johnson to the Eagles in free agency, the Lions return their trio of starting safeties: Ifeatu Melifonwu, Brian Branch, and Kerby Joseph.

The Lions have the ninth-most cap space available among all 32 teams at just over $26 million to use on additional free agents, potential trades, or contract extensions.

Detroit Lions Super Bowl LIX Outlook and Predictions

These are Not Your Mama's Detroit Lions. With a giant target on their backs as the favorites to win the NFC North and the second-shortest odds to win the conference, Dan Campbell's team should be in the NFC Championship Game again. Anything less than that is a failure, considering the team's top producers are all back with some added help.

Of course, until the NFL releases each team's regular season schedule, there's no telling how Detroit's regular season will go. Still, oddsmakers believe they are among the five best of all 32 NFL teams.

According to sportsbooks, the only NFC team viewed higher than them is the team that ended their season last year: San Francisco. Should they meet again, the Lions will seek redemption for their heartbreaking loss in the conference title game a season ago.
